Every producer behind this coffee speaks Tzeltal or Tzotzil, and their relationship with the land runs deep.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"\u003eLa Unión Majomut is particularly remarkable in that its work extends well beyond coffee. It runs programmes for dignified housing, food self-sufficiency, women's productive organisation, and a rural micro-bank supporting the local solidarity economy - a reminder that buying this coffee supports something much larger than a single harvest.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"\u003eBoth communities farm using traditional \"Rusticano\" polyculture systems, where coffee grows beneath a mixed canopy of trees and fruit species at 1,000–1,800 metres. This ancestral approach builds resilience against disease, supports biodiversity, captures carbon, and produces higher quality coffee. The farms sit in the shadow of the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve - a UNESCO-protected area preserving 10 of Mexico's 19 vegetation types, including cloud forest and rainforest.
